School News Notes: October 30, 2022

The Sanford Spartans Marching Band took GOLD at the Maine Band Directors’ Association Marching Band Finals on October 29 at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford. This is the 2nd Gold Medal in SHS Marching Band history. Upon their return, they got an escort from the Sanford Police and Fire Departments. Congratulations to band Director Hailey Francoeur and all the band members!

The Sanford High School/Sanford Regional Technical Center Scheduling Advisory Committee is presenting an overview of their findings from a year-long study of class schedules at SHS and SRTC on Wednesday, November 2nd, at 6 p.m. at the Sanford Performing Arts Center. The study regards possible changes to the 2023-2024 class schedule. There will be time for questions following the presentation. WSSR-TV will livestream the presentation, and it will also be recorded for people who cannot attend.

The Spartan Volleyball team took down the 4th seeded Stags of Cheverus in playoff quarterfinals, but then fell to the to the Biddeford Tigers in the semifinal round, bringing their great season to a close.

Sanford High School’s Civil Rights Team will host its 4th annual Day of Welcome on Nov. 4 to celebrate, promote and welcome our diverse school community. This day is celebrated and held by civil rights teams in more than 300 schools throughout Maine. At SHS, there will be themed Spirit Week events each day this week celebrating diversity.
