Two Sanford student vocalists won honors recently at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition at Bates College.
Hope Abbott-Eaton, Sanford High School senior, received first place in both Musical Theater Division III, and Classical Division III. Her classical repertoire was comprised of works all written by female composers Lori Laitman, Isabella Colbran, and Clara Schumann. Abbott-Eaton plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and has multiple college auditions on the horizon.
Claire Davie, Sanford 8th grader, placed first in Classical Division I, and took third place for Musical Theater Division I. Davie, the youngest classical competitor, sang Italian art songs and spirituals by Steven Sondheim and from Les Misérables.
Both students study with Caleb Randall, voice teacher at Atlantic Harmonies Studio.
