Sanford Parks and Recreation staff are once again offering three different camp experiences for the kids this summer, and this year they will be better than ever.
Camps begin Monday, June 20 and run through Friday, August 5, with no camp on Monday, July 4. All campers must be potty trained. Scholarships are available for all programs.
The Summer Day Camp is a full day program for kids age 4 – 15. Kids entering Pre-K through grade 3 will attend camp at either Sanford Pride Elementary or Carl J. Lamb School. Girls entering 4th grade and up will be at Veterans’ Memorial Gym while the boys’ camp will be held at Sanford Middle School.
Camps will take advantage of all the indoor and outdoor facilities of the schools, and are held rain or shine, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
NEW THIS YEAR – An Extended Morning Day Camp Program which runs from 6:00 a.m.-7:30 a.m. is being offered. You must register your camper separately for this program.
The Rec Department’s experienced staff have an exciting summer planned, including theme weeks, field trips, music, movies, crafts, entertainment, theatre, cheerleading, Legos, dancing, environment (including walks and hikes), golf, magic, story hours, canoe/kayaking (age dependent), a variety of interesting educational activities (music/art) provided by the Sanford School Department, as well as swimming for all age campers. Field trips may include Ferry Beach, Mini Golf, Bowling, Berry Picking, Roller Skating, Sea Dogs Game, Fun Town or York Wild Kingdom.
The cost for Sanford/Springvale residents is $600, which includes breakfast and lunch, and field trips (although not meals during field trips).
This outdoor program is designed for kids age 6-13, and will include theme weeks, music, movies, dancing, individual arts/crafts, theatre, story time, cheerleading, culinary, environment, magic, canoeing, kayaking and a variety of interesting educational activities.
There is a morning program from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and an afternoon program from noon to 4:30. Campers may attend one or both. Lunch (served at 11:30) is included.
Camp will be held at Springvale Playground (behind Springvale Hardware) except on Tuesdays when it will be held at Holdsworth Park, a/k/a Springvale Rec. Camp may be cancelled in the event of severe weather (typically only thunder/lightning).
The cost for Sanford/Springvale residents is $200 for the morning program and $300 for the afternoon session.
Wee Ones Morning Camp is an outdoor camp designed to teach children between the ages of 3-6 the fine art of playing together. This is done through structured group activities, sports, story time, exploration and singing. The campers and their families may choose to take advantage of our Special Friday field trips designed to explore our city and surrounding communities.
Camp will be held at Benton Park, between Roberts and Kimball Sts., from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Choose between Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Tuesday/Thursday/Friday. The cost is $125 for Sanford/Springvale residents, with field trips included. You can also sign up for both sessions.
