Sanford Middle School hosted the Maine Music Educators Association District 1 Honors Band and Chorus Festival over the weekend.
Over 160 performers and nearly 30 band and chorus teachers from several schools participated in the festival.
SMS had several students involved in the ensembles, including Allie Herring, Leah Glidden, Allison Horton, Caity Szymbor, Giuliana Drouin, Kyla Robinson, Bentley Trivilino, and Isaiah Goodale.
Students auditioned back in November for the ensembles and received their music in January to begin preparing.
They rehearsed during the school day on Friday at SMS. They also practiced Saturday morning prior to their 3 pm concert at the Sanford Performing Arts Center.
Dr. Michele Kaschub from the University of Southern Maine was the choir director, and accomplished composer and educator Brad Ciechomski directed the band.
Congratulations to all the students for their hard work and exceptional performance.
