Members of the Sanford Fire Department did what they do best, selflessly serving and helping the hungry citizens of Sanford/Springvale in a food drive on Dec. 1 and 2. As they have done for many years, they organized the food drive and collected thousands of pounds of food in support of the Sanford Food Pantry (SFP).
The volunteers who run SFP want to publicly thank each and every firefighter who made this food drive a huge success. We also want to thank the shoppers at Hannaford, Shaw’s, and Walmart who gave so generously.
As a food pantry, we have seen significant challenges over the past few years. Food costs have risen significantly as have the number of families and seniors seeking our assistance. We would not be able to provide the level of assistance that we do without this food drive. THANK YOU! For those wishing to contribute financially to supporting this non-profit food pantry, please send checks to: Sanford Food Pantry, P.O. Box 732, Springvale, ME 04083.
