Jayne Perkins will be joining the staff of Sanford Community Adult Education (SCAE) on October 12 as its new full-time Program Director. Ms. Perkins is currently teaching for Noble High School in North Berwick and has taught various grade levels from Kindergarten to High School during her thirty years in education.
It was when she had an opportunity to teach a series of history classes for Noble Adult Education that she “fell in love with all things Adult Ed.” She recalls being impressed by the resiliency and courage of the students, as well as the dedication of the staff. She returned to school and got her Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership at Endicott College.
She spoke to the School Committee on September 13 about her passion for the field of continuing education. “My philosophy in Adult Ed is to ensure every adult learner has access to a respectful, relevant and safe learning environment,” she said. She is excited about this new opportunity to lead SCAE into the future.
Ms. Perkins will be responsible for administering all program offerings for SCAE, which provides lifelong learning opportunities to Sanford and the surrounding communities. Some of the programs she will oversee are High School Diploma, High School Equivalency, College Preparation, English Language Acquisition, Workforce Skills Development, Adult Basic Education, and Enrichment.
