At their meeting on August 19, Sanford Planning Board members gave preliminary approval to a new subdivision to be built at the intersection of Jagger Mill Road and Spencer Hill Road. The project includes nine single-family homes, plus an eight acre back lot which may be sold or developed at a later date. The property is being developed by Adam Blaikie and Associates, and is located within the Residential Development Zone.
The subdivision plans call for one home to be built on the corner, one on Jagger Mill, and the remaining seven along Spencer Hill. The homes will have city water and sewer. A walkway along Spencer Hill Road will be paved to allow children to safely access the school bus stop on Jagger Mill Road.
The Board voted 6-0 to grant preliminary approval, with a list of conditions to be met before final approval of the project is granted, which must be done within six months. Board member Dianne Connolly recused herself, citing bias. She submitted a letter which was read into the record of the meeting, in which she stated that the intent of the Residential Development Zone and the city’s Comprehensive Plan is for subdivisions to be built in cohesive neighborhoods, rather than in straight lines.
The project has come before the Board before, under the name Fletcher Farms.
