People Around Town: September 26

Mrs. Waterman’s class at St. Thomas School received a special box of Civil War items from the American Battlefield Trust, an organization that preserves the battlefields of America and offers educational opportunities for children and adults. There are many other items not pictured that her students will get to explore.

Rotary International has recently added improving the environment to their areas of focus and concern. To help advance that goal they urged Rotary Clubs around the world to participate in projects to clean up oceans, lakes, and rivers in the month of September. As part of that effort, members of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club spent part of a recent morning picking up trash along portions of the Mousam River and around Number One Pond. Pictured above is a portion of the crew, from left to right: David Spahn, Barbara Sutcliffe, Lawrence Furbish, Diane Gerry, Roger Durant, and Bob Ferguson.
