Mrs. Waterman’s class at St. Thomas School received a special box of Civil War items from the American Battlefield Trust, an organization that preserves the battlefields of America and offers educational opportunities for children and adults. There are many other items not pictured that her students will get to explore.
Rotary International has recently added improving the environment to their areas of focus and concern. To help advance that goal they urged Rotary Clubs around the world to participate in projects to clean up oceans, lakes, and rivers in the month of September. As part of that effort, members of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club spent part of a recent morning picking up trash along portions of the Mousam River and around Number One Pond. Tom Reinauer has joined York County Community Action Corp. as its new Director of Transportation. Tom has more than three decades’ experience in Public Transportation, most recently working as Director of Public Outreach and Planning for the Maine Department of Transportation. Prior to that, Tom served 27 year as Director of Transportation for the Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission.
Tom has been involved in the planning, development and launch of several YCCAC Transportation program services, including the WAVE and Shoreline Explorer. He has a background in route and service planning, and will bring a wealth of talent and experience to the organization.
York County Community Action’s Transportation Services includes Sanford Transit, Shoreline Explorer, WAVE Transit, the Local Rides Program, Connecting to Cancer Care Program, KITT—Kennebunk In Town Transportation, Southern Maine Connector, and the Volunteer Driver program and Veterans Transportation program.
