Eleanor Gauvreau, 87, of Springvale, died Saturday Dec. 2, 2023, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born in Bellows Falls, Vt., on Jan. 3, 1936, the daughter of Dana and Hazel (Bedaw) Grignon. The family moved to Connecticut in 1941 and settled there. Eleanor graduated from Hillyer College in 1954 with an AB Degree in medical science and from the University of Oklahoma in 1956 with a degree in medical biology. After the birth of her daughters, she divorced and was a fiercely independent woman who raised her two daughters alone. Later she would graduate with a degree in chemistry from the College of Saint Francis. She worked at Southern Maine Medical Center for over 20 years as a cytologist, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning and loved animals, shopping and jewelry. She liked to travel to Michigan and Oklahoma to visit friends as well as to Old Orchard Beach to spend time with a close friend. Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Lori Gauvreau of Shapleigh and Lisa Thoresen and her husband Eric of West Newfield; and an extended family. Lawrence “Larry” Mullen, 88, of Sanford passed away on Nov. 25, 2023, at River Ridge Center in Kennebunk. He was born in Eastport on Dec. 18, 1934, to John and Josephine Mullen Sr. He attended Eastport schools, served in the U.S. Army, and worked in the Guilford Woolen Mill. When he moved to Sanford to work in the mills, he met his future wife, Dina Provencher with whom he would share 43 years of marriage until her death. Larry retired from Pratt & Whitney and continued camping, fishing, ice fishing and lobstering. A fan of the Red Sox and New England Patriots, he enjoyed attending games in person with his family and friends. Larry had a neighborhood family and became the “bonus” grandfather to Paul and Kendra Williams’ children and grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Bonnie Lyn Lambert, 62, of Sanford, a woman of quiet grace, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023. She was born on Oct. 27, 1961, to Percy and Pearl Higgins in Dover-Foxcroft, where she spent her formative years and graduated from Foxcroft Academy. She earned a degree in psychology from the University of Southern Maine in Gorham and dedicated many years to providing childcare resources for those in need. In 2015, she transitioned to the York County Shelter, where she continued her compassionate work and remained employed until her passing. Bonnie found joy in creating beautiful jewelry, reading, and using her computer. Bonnie is survived by her son, Jesse Lambert, and his fiancée, Crissy Fitzgerald, of Portsmouth, NH; three grandchildren; her brothers Larry and Richard; and sister Linda Perigo. Bonnie’s legacy of compassion and warmth will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in her life. In accordance with Bonnie’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
