Debra L. Anderson, 72, of Springvale, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at her home. She was born in Caribou on June 14, 1952, the daughter of Charles and Florence (LaPointe) Paul. Debra was raised on her parents’ potato farm in Caribou, where she gained her love of animals. She reminisced often about her love for her parents and farm life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed camping and spending time with close friends and family. Debra adopted many animals and gave generously to multiple organizations. She retired from the Register of Deeds office for York County after working for the county for 33 years. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Ruth Harrington, Cora Gibson and Myrna MacDonald. She is survived by her children, Shane Anderson of Springvale and Angela (Scott) Pouliot of Lebanon; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Bonnie L. Chick

Bonnie L. Chick, 82, of Alfred, died peacefully on Nov. 19, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with her family by her side. Bonnie was born in Sanford on May 9, 1942, to Gerard and Violet (Day) Ricker. She graduated from Sanford High School and married Ronald Chick on July 30, 1960. Bonnie proudly supported her husband during his 30-year service in the Navy. She embraced the challenges of life as a Navy wife with grace and determination, forming lasting friendships along the way. Her love for family and community was evident in everything she did. Bonnie was known as “Little Admiral.” She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed traveling with Ron to bluegrass festivals. Her hobbies included crafts, sewing, shopping, penny rugs, and quilts. Above all, she was an honest and good friend to everyone. Bonnie is survived by her husband Ron, daughters Kelly Hanscom (Jeff) of Kennebunk and Tammy Loveless (Mark) of Goffstown, NH, sister Jill Reed of Alfred, and niece Heidi Reed of Alfred. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held on Friday, Dec. 6, at Alfred Parish Church. Cecile Marie Dubois

Cecile Marie Dubois, 81, passed away on Nov. 19, 2024. She was born in Sanford on May 20, 1943, to Henri and Yvonne Dubois. She graduated from St. Ignatius High School and, soon thereafter, attended Sherwood Music School in Chicago, earning a teaching degree in piano. Upon returning to Sanford, she founded Les Petite Melodies, a piano music club, where she taught up to 40 private students per week, holding regular recitals and attending state auditions at Maine Federation of Music Clubs. Cecile married Arthur Conrad Dumont on Thanksgiving Day in 1966 at Holy Family Catholic Church. They had three children: Brian, Karen and Kevin. Cecile continued to raise her family and teach piano into her 70s and lived in Sanford until her death. She is predeceased by her parents, Henri and Yvonne Dubois, and brother Roland Dubois and is survived by her sister Beatrice (Arthur) Dumont, her three children, Brian Dumont, Dr. Karen Calegari and Kevin Dumont, and her four grandchildren. Funeral Mass took place on Monday, Nov. 25, at Holy Family Church in Sanford.

Robert (Bob) Plante

Robert (Bob) Plante, 87, passed away peacefully on Nov. 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at Southern Maine Medical Center. Born on April 6, 1937, to Romeo and Cecile (Gouin) Plante in Sanford, he grew up and lived his whole life in the local area. Bob had fond memories of his childhood, playing ball and fishing with his brother and helping his father with his garden and chickens. After attending local schools, he started working in the Sanford Shoe Shop where he met the love of his life, Dolores (Dolly) Emmons. They were married on Nov. 23, 1961, and together they raised four children. He eventually worked for General Electric for over 20 years and retired. Bob and Dolly enjoyed spending time with their family and friends creating memories: playing cards, eating seafood, camping, traveling, swimming in their pool and enjoying Mousam Lake. Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Dolly, his brother, Raymond Plante; and four sisters, Sister Aline Plante of Marlborough, MA, Patricia Thibodeau and Rita Pelletier of Sanford, and Terri (Mark) Cote of Springvale; four children, David (Kristen) Plante of Embden/Sanford, Rachel (Mike) Vlk of Niceville, FL, Susan Cote of Sanford and Marc Plante of Springvale; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home in Springvale.

Katherine (Kathy) Spinney

Katherine (Kathy) Spinney left this world peacefully and comfortably on Nov. 19, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born on Jan. 25, 1953, in Dover, NH, to Joseph and Myra Lauze. She spent much of her life in Sanford and in Summerfield, FL, before moving to York Harbor. Kathy was many things to many people: a beloved wife, devoted mother, loyal sister, incredible friend, and comforting presence in her communities and workplaces. She was the cherished wife of Harold “Harry” Spinney, and their love for one another was something truly special. Kathy was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Sherri, and son, Matt. is survived by her children and their families; brothers, Mike (Bonnie) Lauze, Dennis (Brenda) Lauze, and Brian Lauze; her sisters, Carol (Michael) Hamilton and Corrine Dye; three grandchildren and a large extended family. She lived life to the fullest possible, bringing love, laughter, and comfort to everyone who knew her. She was also the “fixer” for many, always ready with a solution, a kind word, or an action to make things better. She was known for shattering glass ceilings in the workforce, particularly at Cabletron Systems, where she made significant strides in manufacturing. She played a key role in the company both in Rochester and later when she ran the entire factory in Sanford. Her leadership, compassion, and work ethic made a lasting impact on the company and its employees. A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place with visiting hours on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 5-7 pm at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home. David C. Stanley Jr

David C. Stanley Jr., 69, of Sanford, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 29, 2024. David was born on Feb. 12, 1955, in Portland, to Charlene Gray and David Stanley Sr. He grew up in North Windham and graduated from North Windham High School. Following high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country for 12 years. He had a creative side and enjoyed drawing with colored pencils, charcoal, and pencil. A homebody at heart, David valued his solitude but was also known for his dependability. He was a reliable prep cook and all-around helper at Mel’s Raspberry Patch. David is predeceased by his mother, Charlene Gray; stepfather, Alfred A. Morrell Jr.; and nephews Michel A. Bernard, and Richard Bernard. He is survived by his sisters, Melodie (Archer) Bernard of Sanford, and Laurie (Bill) Knight of Sanford, as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home.
