Margaret H. Vincent, 73, of Sanford, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born on March 9, 1951, to James T. and Dorothea (Horne) Hill in Sanford. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Sanford/Springvale. She attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School with the class of 1969. She also attended Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, where she explored her interest in oceanography. Margaret’s career spanned over four decades within the Sanford school system, where she was highly regarded and worked as an administrative secretary. She was introduced to her future husband, Ron in 1974 and they clicked. They were married in 1975 and were going to celebrate their 50 years of devoted marriage on July 12, 2025. Together, they raised two sons, Andrew and Steven. Margaret was overjoyed with the addition of a granddaughter to her family, Kendall, in 2010. Margaret was clever and quick-witted; she was a voracious reader who loved immersing herself in mysteries. She found comfort in the peace and quiet of home, where she took great pride in maintaining beloved family traditions, especially at Christmas. Margaret was a no-nonsense, straightforward woman who enjoyed the balance of a fulfilling career and a peaceful home life. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her niece Dorothea Hill, and her brother-in-law Spencer Stonemetz. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Ronald Vincent; her sons, Andrew J. Vincent of Portland, and Steven J. (Jennifer) Vincent of Sanford; her granddaughter, Kendall A. Vincent; her sister, Marjory H. Stonemetz of York; her brother, James (Kaye) Hill, of Gorham; her niece Jennifer Cray of Portsmouth; her nephews, James Stonemetz of North Berwick, and James Hill of Windham; as well as extended family in England. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 pm. A private burial will be held later in the week at Riverside Cemetery.
