Linda Kay Knight, 64, formerly of Sanford, died Aug. 9 at her home in Allentown, NH. She was born Feb. 19, 1960, in Sanford, the daughter of David and Carolyn (Drown) Knight. She was raised in Alfred and moved to Sanford in 1982. She worked for Cyro for 30 years and then worked as a professional caregiver until retirement. Linda loved to travel, seeing the world’s mountains, oceans and islands. She enjoyed gardening and entertaining. Her true passion was caring for others, which she was doing right up to the time she passed away. Linda is survived by her longtime companion, Marcel Lavoie; her brother, Karl Knight, and his wife Nila; her children, Kristie and David, and her stepdaughter, Shannon Lavoie. Norman Joseph Bergeron, 77, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Aug. 17. He was born in Sanford on Oct. 3, 1946, son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Croteau) Bergeron. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in May 1964 and joined the Air Force in August of the same year. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan; Homestead AFB, Florida; Eglin AFB, Florida; England AFB, Louisiana; Holloman AFB New Mexico; and Myrtle Beach AFB, South Carolina. He married his childhood sweetheart, Rita P. Tebbetts, on Jan. 21, 1967. He retired on Sept. 30, 1984, as a training devices superintendent. He held several jobs after his military career, working for a company that made pacemakers, as a big rig driver and finally as a middle school math teacher. He enjoyed woodworking, building cabinets, shelves, turning bowls and knickknacks. He made a wooden cradle for each of his grandchildren. His love for Rita was always in the forefront. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Bergeron, brother George Bergeron, parents and second wife Monique LeMay. He is survived by his sister Theresa Bergeron and his three daughters, Christine and husband Brian Sapp; Denise and husband Mark Savrick; and Michelle and husband David Horacefield; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Norman will be buried with Rita at Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
