Ann L. Austin, born in Sutton, WV, on Aug. 5,1933, died on July 26, 2024, in Sanford. She spent her later adult life in North Berwick and Sanford. She was married to Robert L. Austin, who died in 2023. She took great pride in managing the parts department of the family business. She and her husband loved to tour the country in their RV and enjoyed camping, fishing and boating in down east Maine. Ann is survived by her son, James Andrews, her stepdaughter, Sandra Austin, her stepson, Robert Austin Jr. (Chip), her sister, Martha Munn, and two nephews. She also leaves behind several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Robert was her beloved husband, partner, and friend, whom she has looked forward to being with once again since his passing in 2023. Margaret E. Marceau

Margaret E. Marceau, 86, of Springvale, died Sunday July 7, 2024, in Sanford. She was born in Shapleigh on March 18, 1938, the daughter of Edward and Marcella Brown. She grew up in several towns, including Shapleigh, Springvale and Auburn. She graduated from Edward Little High School and from the LPN program at Maine Medical Center. She worked on the surgical care floor and emergency departments at Goodall Hospital in Sanford and as the nurse and office manager for Dr. Patel, retiring from Greenwood Nursing Home as a nursing supervisor. Margaret loved all animals, especially her dogs Daisy and BJ, horses and cats. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, knitting and crocheting, playing cards and Yahtzee with her favorite sister-in-law, Irene. Later in life, she and her longtime companion, Ernie, enjoyed stock car racing and going to races at Beech Ridge Speedway, and NASCAR races. She loved the beach and looking for sand dollars. She was predeceased by her brothers, Merle and Stephen Brown, and her sister, Florence Rowell. She is survived by her daughter Carol Marceau as well as several nieces and nephews. Kelsey Rae Roberts

Kelsey Rae Roberts passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, with her mom and dad by her side. Kelsey was born on Oct. 26, 1994, in Sanford. She graduated from Sanford High School, Class of 2013. She excelled in sports growing up, playing on a little league softball team that went on to win back-to-back state championships. In the fall, she would take the road less traveled and play football against the boys. As Kelsey got older, she enjoyed fishing and camping with her father. The love of Kelsey’s life was her son, Owen. He was her everything. They would often have dance parties, enjoy time at the beach, and play at the park. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and play dates with friends. Kelsey is survived by her father, Jordi Roberts; mother, Linda Mee; son, Owen Spaulding; brother, Ethan Emard; brother, Matt (Lauren) Roberts, nephew, Lucas; grandmother, Virginia Roberts; as well as many aunts and uncles. Kelsey is predeceased by her grandfather, John Roberts; grandparents, Norman and Frances Mee; grandparents, Sandra and Ki Emard; stepdad, Scott Emard; and her cousin, Kristina Emard. Priscilla Kenney

Priscilla Kenney, 88, of Springvale, died on July 24, 2024. She was born Feb. 2, 1936, to Leonard and Gertrude (Smith) Hammel in Plymouth, NH, where she grew up and attended local schools. She spent her younger years working at New Hampshire Manufacturing before moving to Maine in the 1970s. She found long-term employment at Sprague Electric in Sanford, where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement. Priscilla led a simple yet fulfilling life. She enjoyed participating in a bowling league for a time and took pleasure in the comfort of her home. She was known for her independent and private nature. Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, Pearl Wanat, Phyllis Buck, and Peggy Carter and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Carol (Gary) Walker of Springvale, Gary (Lisa) Kenney of Hudson, NH and Deborah Smith of Parsonsfield; a brother, Leonard Hammel Jr. of New Hampshire, and a sister, Sylvia Agley of Florida. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Richard R. “Richie” Thayer

Richard R. “Richie” Thayer, 57, of Sanford, died Friday July 26, 2024, with his loving wife Ann by his side after a long battle with illness. He was born in Abington, Massachusetts, November 29, 1966, the son of Richard and Arlene (Angely) Thayer. He grew up in Abington, MA and graduated from South Shore Vocational Technical High School in 1985. Richie married his best friend, Ann Brackett in 2002 and shortly thereafter they relocated to Rhode Island. Richie worked for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for 35 years, serving various roles throughout his career Richie retired in 2023 and he and his wife Ann, moved to Maine fulfilling a lifelong dream of theirs to retire in Ann’s home state. Richie will be remembered as a kind soul, and a great listener. Richie was predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law, Rod Brackett. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his son, Trevor (Marilyn) Thayer, his daughter Jennifer Thayer; his granddaughter, Camelia Thayer; and a large extended family.
