Michael R. Horr, a longtime resident of Sanford, passed away at the age of 66. He is survived by his devoted mother, four sisters, two adult children and five grandchildren. Among his favorite pastimes were leisurely rounds of mini-golf and serene boat rides with his family, where cherished moments were shared in quiet companionship. He found peace on the golf course, often accompanied by his son, finding solace and connection in the game. Michael’s greatest joy was found in selecting toys for his grandchildren’s birthdays and Christmas, a task he approached with dedication and delight. Wilfred “Freddie” Roy, a beloved family member, cherished friend, and respected community figure, passed away at the age of 91 on April 15, 2024, in Scarborough. Born to Joseph and Clara Roy on February 9, 1933, in Sanford, Freddie grew up to embody the virtues of hard work, kindness, and commitment to his loved ones. He served honorably in the United States Army for two years. He married Rosalie Pendexter on December 21, 1963, and together they shared a devoted marriage of 47 years until her death in 2010. Their adventures took them across the United States and Europe, creating a tapestry of memories. His professional life was marked by dedication to his roles at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he worked until retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosalie and his siblings Lucien Roy, Lucienne Gregoire, Roland Roy, Florien, Fernand, Jeanne Roux, Ralph Roy, Doris Meunier, and Rene Roy. Freddie’s memory will be held dear by his surviving family: sisters Rita (Roger) Savoie and Claire (Caroll) Bliar, and his adoring nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are from 5-7 pm on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green in Alfred.
