Paul R. Gendreau Sr, 88, of Sanford passed away at home on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024. Paul was born in Sanford on Jan. 6, 1936, the son of the late Maurice and Angeline (Duchette) Gendreau. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and then entered the U.S. Air Force in 1955. He was married to Bertha (Duchette) Gendreau and together they raised three children, Paul Jr. and daughters Karen and Brenda. Following his service in the U.S. Air Force, he was employed as a plumber by local companies and eventually founded Gendreau Plumbing and Heating. Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing for most of his life. In later years, he became a fan of the New York Yankees and insisted on joyfully expressing his point of view to Boston Red Sox fans. He was predeceased by his wife Betha, and siblings Bernadette M. Michaud, Gerard Gendreau, Jacqueline G. Lamontagne, and Maurice Gendreau. Survivors include his son Paul R. Gendreau Jr. (Nancy) of Sanford, daughters Karen A. Hulsey (David) of Smyrna, Tenn., and Brenda L. Durant (Jay) of Sanford, seven grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 23, at 10:30 am at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., followed by interment at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale. Richard C. Guinard “Ricky”, 73, of Alfred passed away on Feb. 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Ricky was born on Dec. 11, 1950, in Sanford. He grew up in Emery Mills with his parents and his five siblings. Ricky attended grade school in Shapleigh and then graduated from Sanford High School in 1970. At Sanford High School Ricky met the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Burns (Dottie). Shortly after high school Ricky and Dottie were married, and in 1974 had a son, Timothy. Ricky made sure that Timothy had a wonderful childhood. He built their first house and the family settled down and grew roots in Alfred. Ricky was an accomplished carpenter by trade. He built and remodeled several houses throughout southern Maine. In 1988, he and Dottie built “the Cottage in the Woods,” where the two still lived until Ricky’s passing. He enjoyed dirt biking, snowmobiling, canoeing, and Harley motorcycle road trips with his many friends. Ricky was proud to have helped Tim and his wife Terri build their own beautiful home in Alfred, where they too would grow roots. Ricky became a grandfather in 2021 and his little buddy Jason became his best friend. Ricky cherished his time with his grandson four wheeling, snowmobiling, or making trips to the toy department at Walmart. Ricky was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a friend to many. He was predeceased by his parents, Clinton and Kathleen; his brother Douglas; and his sisters Sylvia and Dawn. He is survived by his soul mate Dottie of Alfred; his son Timothy and his wife Terri of Alfred; his grandson Jason of Alfred; brother Robert and wife Donna Guinard of Springvale; sister Kim and husband Bryan Libbey of Wells; and brother Clayton Guinard; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Congregational Church in Alfred on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 3 pm. Read his full obituary here:
Regina Mary Money, 90, of Berwick, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born in Boston on June 25, 1933, the daughter of John and Theresa (Leydon) Foley. She grew up in Roxbury, Mass., but moved to Beverly after she married Kenneth Money in 1951. She was a homemaker for a few years but soon went to work for the F.W. Woolworth Company, where she remained for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. Regina and Ken moved to Berwick in retirement and remained there. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching television, especially her soap operas. Regina was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 2008. She is survived by her children, Robert Money and wife Diane of Newfields, NH, Karl Money and his wife Ellen of Merritt Island, Florida, Ronald Money of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Kathleen Sears of Maricopa, Arizona, and Rosalie Stewart and her husband Donald of Sanford; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visiting hours were held at the Carll-Heald and Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St. in Springvale, on Friday, Feb. 16. A graveside service will be held at the St. Ignatius Cemetery in the spring.
