Historical Museum & Goodwin House to Reopen in July

by Harland Eastman The Sanford-Springvale Historical Museum and the Goodwin House are pleased to announce that they will be reopening to the public beginning in July.  Specifically, the Museum will be open on Friday, July 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and both the Museum and the House from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the following day.  These Friday and Saturday hours will continue throughout the summer and thereafter if the health situation permits.                                            Motor Vehicle Exhibit:  Late in…

Budget Committee Approves School Budget

At its March 25 meeting, members of Sanford’s Budget Committee gave their stamp of approval to the School Department budget for 2021-2022. The budget will now go to the City Council before voters get the final say on June 8. Superintendent of Schools Matt Nelson was able to trim the Department’s original budget significantly from his original presentation, by using some money from the carryover, reducing expenses and utilizing some of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act funds. Curtis Lake Church is adding a third service for Easter. With the increased capacity guidelines, no reservation is required to attend. Services will be held at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. Services will still be streamed live as well. Goodall Library has increased their hours. Lanigan Sues Mayor, City Over Removal From Subcommittees

City Councilor Lucas Lanigan has filed suit in York County Superior Court, naming Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio, the Sanford City Council and the City of Sanford as defendants. The suit stems from Councilor Lanigan’s removal from his Council Subcommittee assignments by Mayor Mastraccio last month, following a controversial post on his personal Facebook page. Latest Covid & Vaccine Update

New cases of Covid-19 in our community rose significantly this week, with 38 new cases in Sanford and 15 in Springvale, for a total of 53. This is an increase of more than 70% over last week’s total of 31 new cases. The combined cumulative total of cases in our community now stands at 1,393.
