SRTC Offers Summer Camp Experience

by Kathy Sargent, SRTC Director During the weeks of June 14-17 and June 21-24, Sanford Regional Technical Center held our first ever in-person "Camp SRTC" experience for middle school students from throughout Southern York County.  Students from SRTC’s partner districts were eligible to attend the camp; these districts include the Kittery School Department, RSU#21, RSU#35, RSU#57, MSAD#60, the Sanford School Department, the Wells-Ogunquit Community School District and the York School Department. Andersen Sworn In As Sanford’s New Police Chief

Following the recognition of retiring Police Chief Tom Connolly at the July 20 City Council meeting, City Manager Steven Buck described the lengthy process of selecting the Chief's replacement. A 22-Person Committee was appointed to provide input into the City’s and Department’s needs for the next Police Chief. Police Chief Connolly Recognized For Service

The City Council this week expressed appreciation to retiring Police Chief Thomas P. Connolly, Jr. for his 14 years of service to the City. At the Council's meeting on July 20, Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio read a proclamation recognizing Chief Connolly for his 41 years in law enforcement. Stenton Trust Highlight of Growth Council Update

Jim Nimon, Executive Director of the Sanford Regional Economic Growth Council, presented his quarterly report to the City Council at its meeting on July 20. The biggest news was that there has been progress with the development of the long-vacant Stenton Trust building on River St. WinnDevelopment, a Massachusetts-based company, has submitted a preapplication to Maine Housing, which is a first step in converting the former industrial building to residential use.
