York County Community Action has extended its free transportation for essential needs like shopping, medical appointments and getting to work, through January 31, 2022. On Sunday, October 17, Sanford officers responding to a disturbance at the corner of Dale and Emery Sts., took a 24-year-old Springvale resident into custody on a charge of violating condition of release. Two motor vehicle stops that day, one on Lebanon St. and one on Cottage St., resulted in summonses. 8 New Firefighters Join SFD

Eight new recruits have recently joined the Sanford Fire Department, two in new positions and six replacements. Some are local and some will be moving to the area from away. Experience levels range from relatively new to the industry, to five years on another professional department. One is an EMT-Advanced, one is in paramedic school, and the rest are EMT-Basics.  The recruits have spent their first two weeks learning and bonding with each other and the current firefighters.
