Last week Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced their nominees to the United States Military Academies. Among the Maine students nominated was Laila Adawadkar of Springvale, a graduate of Sanford High School who will attend the US Naval Academy at Annapolis. The Sanford Elks' Giving Trees fundraiser was an incredibly successful event this year, raising $4,000 for the Elks National Foundation. Police Log Digest: December 5-11, 2021

On Sunday, December 5, a 39-year-old resident of Portsmouth, NH, was arrested at a Main St. address in Springvale, on a charge of domestic violence assault. Among other calls that day were a report of shoplifting on Main St., and vandalism on Shaw St. Monday, December 6, following a disturbance on Main St., a 48-year-old Sanford resident was taking into custody by Sanford officers for aggravated assault.
