Sunday, December 19, there were no arrests or summonses. Officers were kept busy with a report of shoplifting and two reports of larceny/forgery/fraud on Main St., a disturbance on State St., and a report of terrorizing/threatening on Riverbank Ct. in Springvale, among other calls. Council Makes Changes to Parking Ordinance

After months of discussion, the City Council on December 21, 2021, approved changes to the parking ordinance which will finally prohibit some large and heavy vehicles from parking overnight on City streets. People will also now be prohibited from sleeping in their cars overnight. The ordinance had been debated several times by the Council's Public Safety Subcommittee, which consists of Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio, Councilor Ayn Hanselmann and Councilor Jonathan Martell. School Committee Meeting Summary

The Sanford School Committee met December 20, 2021. All members were present. The minutes of previous meetings were approved. There were no public comments or communications. Committee Reports Construction: Superintendent of Schools Matt Nelson reported that the arbitration between the School Department and subcontractors who worked on Sanford High School was held the previous week. On Friday and Saturday, December 17 and 18, Springvale Toys for Tots held its 14th distribution event and the parents of (approximately) 1400 children came to choose gifts/toys for their children. This year Toys for Tots was fortunate to have the use of Curtis Lake Church's multi-purpose room where the gifts were displayed for choosing and parents were escorted by elves, who were all members of the community.
