Winterfest Fishing Derby Winners

It was a great day for ice fishing when Winterfest 2022 came to Number One Pond February 19. The day started out at a chilly 10 degrees but warmed up to 30 later in the afternoon. A total of 134 kids participated and caught a huge number of fish. Bean suppers are back! The monthly bean suppers at the Crossroads United Methodist Church will resume March 26 and will continue the last Saturday of each month from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Church hall at 16 Grammar Rd. Travel Basketball Teams Clean Up at League Championships

The Sanford Parks and Recreation Spartans Travel Basketball teams made a clean sweep at the Maine Event League Championships this past weekend, taking home every division they entered. The 4th/5th grade boys (pictured above) beat Noble in the Championship game by a score of 32-30 under Head Coach Shane O’Connell, and Asst. Coach Ryan Whitten. The Sanford Spartans Wrestling team added more bling to the trophy cabinet this past week, with a second place team finish in the Class A Maine State Championships at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham on Saturday, and a first place win at the Duals Championships on Tuesday at Fryeburg Academy.
