From the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland The St. Thérèse Food Closet, a ministry of St. Thérèse Parish in Sanford, is this year’s recipient of Catholic Charities Maine’s Matthew 25 Award. Sanford’s Civil Air Patrol Squadron Flying High

The Civil Air Patrol is a nationwide non-profit organization of volunteers that serves as the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. It is open to anyone age 12 and up, divided into Cadets (age 12-21) and Seniors (age 18+). While some members are military veterans and their families, many have no military experience. Friday, July 1: A 58-year-old Sanford resident was summonsed for assault on Main St. Following a shoplifting call to Main St., a 48-year-old Wells resident was taken into custody on a warrant, with the additional theft charge. Two juveniles, aged 14 an 15, were summonsed for shoplifting in a separate Main St. incident. The Planning Board gave conditional approval to Sanford's first adult-use marijuana retail store this week, which will be located at 22 Smada Dr. in South Sanford.
