Obituary: Doreen M. Walker

Doreen M. Walker, 75, passed away on December 14, 2022 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH. She was in the presence of family and surrounded by love.

She was born on November 26, 1947 in Providence, RI, the daughter of Mary Garcia Goulart and Wilburn Turner.

She was raised in Bristol, RI and graduated from Colt Memorial High School. Shortly thereafter she moved to Sanford, ME.

Doreen was a great cook (her Portuguese dish peppers and chourico was the best) and she enjoyed crafting, traveling with her sister Sharon, gatherings with friends, her dog Daisy and loved her partner and family.

She was a very kind and generous person with a great sense of humor who was loved by many. She will be greatly missed.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Deborah Decosta. She is survived by her loving partner of 32 years, Douglas DeWitt, daughter Vanessa Walker and her partner Mike McNeilly, daughter Lynn Walker and her partner Dan McCready, her sisters Sharon Madeiro and Rebecca Elderkin, her granddaughters Krista Huston and Deanna Huston and her great-grandson Islan Burns, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 15th, 2023 from 1-4 PM at Autumn Green Funeral Home, 47 Oak Street, Alfred, ME 04002.
