News Notes: September 30

Would you like to be a part of the Sanford Backpack Program’s 2021 Box of Joy campaign? Last year, SBP volunteers and generous community members were able to fill almost 300 boxes with items for families in need – see photo above. They already have over 150 gift-wrapped boxes ready for sponsors to fill in November! Fill boxes as a family, as a work family, as friends, or as an organization! This is a “feel good” project that you won’t regret being a part of. Please contact Grace Davie at 22graced@gapps.sanford.org or Jennifer Paquin Davie at sbp@strongersanford.org or call (207) 608-9601 to sign up and get a box to fill.

Sanford Recreation is on the hunt for the PERFECT Christmas tree to put in Central Park this year. If you think you have one, give them a call at (207) 324-9130.

Almost all families qualify for the Child Tax Credit. Even families who haven’t filed a tax return or don’t have recent income are eligible for the full Child Tax Credit, and anyone who has a child with a Social Security number can get it. Reach out to CA$H MAINE or call 211 for more information. Click HERE to learn more and receive your Child Tax Credit.

Due to circumstances, Sanford Maine Stage will not be doing “A Christmas Carol” this season. Instead, they have added “Scrooge With A Twist.” It is more lighthearted and not so somber. It has a Greek Chorus, carolers and a more “loveable” Scrooge ( is that possible ? ) …..it’s a different show, but with the same message. Auditions will be held at the Nasson Little Theatre in Springvale from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on October 7 and 9. Show dates will be December 4 and 11 at 7:00 p.m., and December 5 and 12 at 2:30 p.m. Teens are welcome to audition. Email marya.troopstair@gmail.com for more info.
