Sanford firefighter receives his permanent helmet shield: To honor his hard work and dedication over the past several months, Firefighter John DeLong was presented with his permanent helmet shield last week. It is the C shift’s tradition for the firefighter who most recently received their shield to present the next incoming firefighter with their own.

Absentee ballots available soon: Absentee ballot application requests can be submitted now for the November 7 State and Sanford Municipal Election. These are solely application requests. The absentee ballots will become available on October 7. You can request an application either online here or in person at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall.

Rectory groundbreaking signals new vision for Catholic Church in Sanford: Earlier this month, Father Wilfred Labbe, pastor of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, joined parish members as well as students from St. Thomas School to break ground for a new parish rectory. The rectory, which will be located next to St. Thomas School, is the first part of a larger project that will also include building a new parish center and, eventually, a new school gymnasium. The new rectory, expected to be ready for spring occupancy, will replace the current one that is located at the former Notre Dame Church in Springvale.
