There was a great turnout for the 2nd Annual Heart, Peace and Love For Kids 5K Walk which started from Gowen Park on Saturday, September 17. Many Sanford businesses and organizations helped sponsor the event, which raised money for Chace Fromwiller in his fight against cancer.
The Sanford Elks MCCP Committee had a fantastic weekend of events on September 9-10, beginning with their Night For a Cause featuring Mystery Boxes, Bucket Raffle, Silent and Live Auction. DJ Dick Fredette provided music for the evening and Bruce Brunelle was the auctioneer. Attendees enjoyed pub food, including pulled pork sliders and chowda. On Saturday, 40 teams took to the course at Sanford Country Club for the 29th Annual Golf Tournament under sunny skies. These two events helped bring the total funds raised this year to $122,000, and the cumulative 29 year total to over $2.8 million dollars! The Sanford Elks MCCP Committee and their many volunteers and sponsors continue to provide for care and healing to many children and their families at the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.
