Partners Bank made a recent donation of $900 to Grahamtastic Connection, which equals $100 for each home run hit by the Sanford Mainers at home this season.
Several parents and kids protested at Central Park last Friday against the mask mandate in Sanford public schools. Along with a similar protest at Noble High School in North Berwick, they made the channel 13 news. There was some confusion on social media as to whether the protest was against masks or the dress code. One parent posted a graphic for a “National Walk Out for Freedom of Choice” but wrote that it was not in fact a walkout, but an organized dismissal of their children by multiple parents.
The Welcome Back block party planned for Margaret Chase Smith School this coming Friday has been cancelled due to the rising number of Covid cases in our community.
Carl J. Lamb Elementary School is now considered in “outbreak status” because there have been three epidemiologically linked positive COVID-19 cases there within a 14-day period. Based on recommendations from the Maine CDC, they are continuing to clean the school and classrooms to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
Don’t know what to do with the kids on those early release Wednesdays? Sanford Rec has Keep Moving Midweek afternoon programs for grade K-4 and 5-8. They will keep busy moving with a variety of games, play structure time, hikes, free play and field trips. Southern Maine Health Care is experiencing high volumes at their Walk-In Care Centers. It is recommended to call in advance to determine approximate wait times to be seen before heading over there. The number for the Sanford clinic is 490-7900.
Pleasant St. Free Baptist Church has a new fall schedule. Sunday School/Bible Study for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m., with the Worship Service at 10:45.
