Meal Prepping: How is dinner working out at your house? Would you like the opportunity to make it a little easier with some prepped meals? Nasson Community Center is considering hosting meal prep sessions. Some of the recipes being considered are: Crockpot Butter Chicken (Indian food….don’t be scared! It is amazing!), Freezer Bag Chicken Primavera, Sour Cream Noodle Bake, Smoky Sweet Potato and Black Bean Enchiladas, Easy Portuguese-Style Bean Soup, Deep Dish Pizza, Chicken Fajita Sheet Pan, Creamy Buffalo Chicken Enchiladas, Freezer Bag Chicken Curry Stir-Fry (Curry is on point any night of the week!) and Chicken Fajita Chowder.
The 2nd Annual Southern Maine Artists and Crafters Festival is set for Saturday, October 1st outdoors at Sanford High School! A portion of proceeds from this event will benefit the Sanford Performing Arts Center and the Sanford High School Visual Arts Department. Autumn is in the air and Sanford will be brimming with activity that weekend with SHS homecoming festivities, alumni events, and other festivals, bringing hundreds to the Sanford area! Singer/songwriter Ashlyn Bard will be performing at the Festival. 10×10 foot spaces are available for $35 to showcase and sell your wares. Please note that because this event is a showcase for quality handmade items, direct sales vendors will not be featured. St. George’s Episcopal Church is returning to two services per week. Except for the last Sunday of the month, each Sunday there will be an 8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, and a 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist with music, with a 9:00 a.m. joint coffee hour in between. On the last Sunday of each month, there will be one combined service at 9:00 a.m.
Playgroup: Nasson Community Center received a robust response to their playgroup survey and anticipate running both a toddler playgroup, as well as an all-ages homeschool playgroup. Everyone is invited to a Meet ‘n Greet (with free coffee from the South Sanford Aroma Joe’s) on Wednesday, September 21 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., so they can best assess the needs, including the best day/time for each group. Expectant and new Moms who live in York County are invited to a Community Baby Shower, hosted by BeLoved and the Compassion Closet at Mercy Chapel on Saturday, October 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All who register will received a “Welcome Baby” swag bag. Free baby items will be available including clothing, gently used furniture and other items. There will be a raffle for new baby items and donated gifts. Connect with local organizations and agencies supporting families. Siblings welcome! Free lunch will be provided, games and prizes for the kids, and of course, cake! Basketball Skills and Drills for grades 2-8 starts at the Nasson Gym on Wednesdays beginning September 21. It is a six week program, the cost is $150. Email office@nassoncommunitycenter.com to preregister.
A Christmas Carol: Grab your family or a group of friends and join Sanford Community Adult Education for a special holiday trip! They’ll be traveling with VIP Tour & Charters from the Wells Park & Ride, to North Shore Music Theater in Beverly, MA as New England’s brightest holiday tradition celebrates its 31st annual production! An original adaptation based on Charles Dickens’ classic novella, A CHRISTMAS CAROL is a musical ghost story following the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge through a series of strange and magical journeys, where he ultimately discovers the true spirit of the holiday season. After the matinee, travel via coach to a nearby restaurant to grab some dinner (on your own). The bus is scheduled to be back in Wells by 8 pm.
