Please be aware that there is an ongoing telephone scam being perpetrated by someone claiming to be from the York County Sheriff’s office. If you get a call that you have missed a grand jury appointment and now need to pay a fine or fee, DO NOT pay this person. Call the real Sheriff’s office at (207) 324-1113 if you are concerned and want verification.
The Salvation Army of Sanford is now taking applications for Christmas assistance. They are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Please bring with you: IDs for all adults in home, proof of income and expenses, proof of residency, and clothing/shoe sizes and wish list items for the children.
It’s not too early to start thinking about the Sanford Elks Giving Tree Fundraiser! Anyone wishing to help support community programs through the Elks’ National Foundation can participate by decorating a wreath, tree or non-traditional holiday display. If you are interested or have questions contact Sheri at (207) 608-7798.
Line dancing for seniors 50+ has moved to the Memorial Gym. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays (no dance November 10). Park on the right side and in back of the building. Pay $2 each week to the supervisor on duty. For beginner and intermediate dancers. Great fun and good exercise!
In recognition of over 40 years of service to St. Thomas School in Sanford, school administrators and parents are assembling an album of reflections for Donna Jacques, who served as a longtime principal and teacher at the school. Parents, students, former students, and residents are encouraged to reflect on the difference Mrs. Jacques made in your life or that of your children’s and submit them via email to gcauger@me.com or handwritten to Clair Auger, 7 Avon Street, Sanford, ME 04073. Please send your reflection by the end of October and please spread the word on this special effort.
