New Hope Alliance this week announced they will be opening an 11-bed men’s recovery house in Sanford (pictured above). They anticipate it will be open in late October, and are taking screenings now. If you are interested or need more information, call 207-807-8937 or 207-230-9179. New Hope Alliance provides structured, substance-free, MAT-friendly housing solutions for those in early recovery. They also have a women’s recovery house in Sanford as well as locations in Biddeford and Saco.

Speaking of books, Sanford Community Adult Education has a new literacy initiative called Read a Book, Take a Book. This new initiative aims to get books in the hands of Sanford residents as well as folks in surrounding towns. Their new location at the Willard Building has a beautiful, spacious library – with a difference. When you take out a book you get to keep it! No need to return your book, keep it forever to read over and over! Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club, Kennebunk Savings Bank and many thoughtful community members, they have been able to stock the library with all kinds of books for children, teenagers and adults. They have all genres, all levels, and all free! Check in at the main office and SCAE’s welcoming staff will bring you to the library just steps away from the main entrance. Spend time browsing the shelves and choose any book that piques your interest, then keep it! The library is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Friday from 9:00 to 3:00.
Threads of Hope will be unable to accept donations next week 10/17 through 10/21 to allow their employees a chance to get caught up on the backlog. Your continued support of their program is appreciated!
