Don’t commit any crimes in this city if you plan on escaping on foot. Our cops can RUN! Members of the Sanford Police Department completed the first leg of the Special Olympics Torch Run on Tuesday, June 7. Officers Andrew Raymond, Sarah Howe and Matt Begin, and Detective Everett Allen ran seven miles from the PD headquarters on Main St. all the way to Waban Projects on Country Club Rd. Lieutenant Matthew Gagné drove the pace vehicle. They were met with supporters and well-wishers at Waban, and the Torch was handed off to the North Berwick PD to continue the relay. Members of the Sanford PD have been long-time supporters of the athletes that participate in the Special Olympics and were honored to be the first leg of the relay.
