Did you know York County uses the RAVE Alert System? RAVE is a reverse 911 application that allows citizens to sign up for emergency alerts, such as winter storm notices, evacuation notices, flood alerts, bio-terrorism alerts and boil water notices. Click here to sign up. When you complete your profile, you have the option to add specific needs for your address, such as evacuation assistance or needing electricity for medical equipment. You can also sign up by texting the keyword “YorkCountyAlerts” to 226787 (the keyword is not case sensitive).

Girls entering grades 3-9 in the fall are eligible to sign up for a basketball clinic to be held at Sanford High School the week of June 27th. The cost is $75, or two siblings for $90. Find more info here.

The Sanford Fire Department is accepting applications for Firefighters until June 20, to establish an eligibility list pending any vacancies that might happen. The Department is accepting applications for the newly created Assistant Fire Chief position until June 24. There is nothing new to report on the process for new fire stations.  The challenge is in identifying appropriate property in/towards the Springvale area.

Job Corps is currently enrolling youth 16-24 years old, who are interested in learning career training in areas such as Automotive, Welding, Healthcare, Electrical, Culinary Arts, among others, through FREE training.
