The Hazen Carpenter Trail, a loop that circles Deering Pond, was dedicated on Thursday, July 1, with about 30 people in attendance. The Trail is the result of five years of work by members of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club and the Mousam Way Land Trust. Mr. Carpenter, a lifelong resident of Springvale, was also honored as a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest recognition that Rotary International bestows. Pictured in the photo above, from left to right, are Cassandra Moser, Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club President; Diane Gerry, Past President; Hazen Carpenter; Rotarian Lawrence Furbish; and Dr. Bud Johnston of Mousam Way Land Trust.
Get your tickets now for the the Nasson Youth Theatre’s presentation of Anne of Green Gables, adapted by Jon Jory and directed by Brittney Danis. This is the classic story of a fiery young girl named Anne Shirley. When Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert end up with young Anne, instead of the boy they thought they were adopting, their world is turned upside down. Marilla is not pleased with the orphanage’s mix-up, but agrees to keep the little girl for one month with the hope that she will be able to civilize Anne before sending her back. But will the imaginative and mischievous girl win over the hearts of her reluctant parents? Show dates are August 20, 21 and 28 at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30. Purchase tickets at: https://nassonevents.ticketleap.com/.
