Monday, January 17 is Martin Luther King Day. Schools, City offices and both libraries will be closed. Trash and recycling will be picked up as usual. The transfer station will be closed Tuesday, January 18.
The Sanford Backpack Program has been selected by Hannaford to participate in their Hannaford Helps bag sale fundraiser. For every “Hannaford Helps” bag sold for $2.50 in the month of January, SBP program receives $1.00.
Missed out on your high school prom? Or just looking for some Friday night fun? Get your tickets now for the 3rd Annual Hicks and Chicks Adult Prom on February 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sanford Elks Lodge, to benefit the Sanford Middle School PTA. This is a 21+ event, with music by DJ Gingersnap. The best part is you can dress fancy to flannel, or anything in between! It seems like Christmas just happened, but it’s already time to start thinking about your child’s February school vacation. Sanford Recreation has you covered with a great Vacation Camp planned for kids in grades PreK to 6. Camp will be held Monday-Friday February 21-25 at the Memorial Gym, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a week packed full of fun and activities. For more info and to register, visit this page.
Southern Maine Health Care has welcomed Brittany Whitaker, DO, to the Sanford Primary Care office located in the Goodall Medical Office Building, 25A June St. Dr. Whitaker previously practiced as a family medicine resident at Samaritan Health Services, Corvallis, Oregon and is board certified in family medicine. Dr. Whitaker completed her medical degree at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, Maine. Her clinical interests are rural medicine, international/travel and wilderness medicine, women’s health, research and medical education.
The Trafton Travelers are planning a fun St. Patrick’s Party for Tuesday, March 15. The trip to the beautiful Danversport Yacht Club will include transportation, a traditional lunch of corned beef and cabbage or baked stuffed chicken, taxes and gratuity, and a great show of Irish music, humor and heritage featuring Jeff & Anne Barnhart with Scott Kahn, better known as The O’McMurphy Brothers and the Fabulous Fiona Finely.
