The US Army’s 3rd Infantry, traditionally known as Honor Guard Company or “The Old Guard” recognized SPC Ball of Sanford as its Honor Guard Soldier of the Week last week. Joining the Army in 2020 as an 11B infantryman, SPC Ball was assigned to 3rd Platoon, Honor Guard Company. While in Honor Guard Company he has been in several high visibility ceremonies such as The White House State Arrival, the State Dinner, Department of the Army and Senior General Officer Retirement ceremonies to name a few. SPC Ball’s hobbies include snowboarding, fishing, and riding his dirt-bike. The Old Guard is the Army’s official ceremonial unit and escort to the President, and it also provides security for Washington, D.C., in time of national emergency or civil disturbance. It is the oldest active-duty infantry unit in the Army, serving our nation since 1784.
