Sanford Soccer is in need of more board members! They currently only have a handful of members, and it takes many hands to make the season and Columbus Tournament happen. They meet once a month for roughly an hour and have many different opportunities for volunteers. One of the needs they have is for someone with good computer skills to help with registrations and communications. Knowledge of the game of soccer is not required to be a member. If you have kids or have had kids in the program and want to see this program continue into the future please consider helping out. The next Board meeting is August 24 at 6:00 p.m. at Shaw Field. If you are interested in joining come and see what it’s all about.
Waban is now offering a Shared Living Option (SLO) as a residential choice for adults with disabilities. In a Shared Living model, families or individuals open their homes to care for an individual with intellectual disabilities. Shared Living can be compared to a Foster Family. A Shared Living Provider can be a family, a single individual, a couple, a friend, a family member, or even a parent sharing their living space, helping people with disabilities live a full life. Shared Living Providers open their homes to help individuals with education, employment, recreation, family inclusion, health/mental health and independent living skills. Shared Living Providers are independent contractors who receive a generous stipend, training, supervision and 24/7 emergency on-call support.
