News Notes: April 25

Welcome to #vaccinationland! Dr. Nirav Shah stopped by the Sanford Vaccination Center this week. He is pictured above with some of the vaccinators – RNs from Southern Maine Health Care and York County paramedics – who were on duty that day.

The pool at the YMCA will be closed April 28-30 while a new air handling system is installed. The pool will reopen Saturday, May 1.

If you’re downtown and feeling like an ice cream cone, Sammy’s Scoops is now open for the season. Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday 1:00-8:00 p.m., and Monday-Thursday 2:00 to 8:00.

On Thursday, to celebrate Earth Day, volunteers from the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club, Great Bay Services, the Sanford Police and Fire Departments, Sanford Housing Authority and Southern Maine Health Care worked to clean up trash along Route 109 in South Sanford near Walmart and the Airport. Though it was a cold and windy morning, seventeen volunteers picked up thirty bags of trash and other debris from the roadside, making Sanford cleaner and safer for everyone to enjoy.

Pleasant St. Free Baptist Church has moved its worship time on Sundays to 10:00 a.m. You can join them in person or watch the service streamed live on Facebook.
