WMTW and Seacoast Online are reporting that Maine CDC is investigating two more outbreaks at Sanford social clubs.
An outbreak investigation at the VFW on Hutchenson St. was reportedly opened on September 11. Anyone who visited there since August 24 may have been exposed to the virus, and should contact their health care provider.
Another outbreak investigation was reportedly opened for the AmVets on School St. on September 9. Anyone who has visited that club since August 26 may have been exposed.
It is not clear at this time whether these new outbreaks are the result of additional cases, or if they represent cases that have already been reported, but just connected. The new outbreaks came to light as CDC epidemiologists were tracing the contacts of the previously-announced outbreaks at the American Legion and the Lafayette Club.
The CDC is also recommending that persons who have visited the Sanford Elks Lodge since September 3, the Springvale Social Club since September 1, and the Wolves Club since August 26, may have been exposed, and should contact their health care provider.
Two cases of Covid-19 among employees of Shaw’s Supermarket were also reported by the Portland Press Herald on Friday. That is not considered an outbreak, which is defined as three or more cases.
