In the heart of downtown Sanford, Mill Towne Tavern provides fun entertainment and surprising culinary delights. Located at 898 Main Street in the lower section of the newly renamed “Main Street Marketplace”, this spacious venue has become a go-to destination for locals and visitors alike, offering varied activities and events that cater to all ages and interests.
Owner Billy Bruno has created a space that seamlessly blends live music, games and delicious food. “We’re one of the largest bar/restaurants in the area,” Bruno proudly states, “and we’re open to all ages before 9 pm.”
The tavern’s artist lineup is a music lover’s dream, featuring a rotation of bands and DJs that specialize in classic rock and alternative country. November’s calendar is packed with talented acts, including Michael Corleto, Straight Up No Ice, 2 For Jackson, DJ Mike, Dirty McCurdy and Follically Challenged. “We get a lot of positive feedback about our bands,” Bruno shares. “We hire a lot of local favorites to play here.”
Bruno is particularly excited about the upcoming Thanksgiving Eve celebration on November 27, featuring “Got It Covered”, a local cover band with a diverse, danceable setlist. Looking ahead to December, patrons can mark their calendars for the annual Ugly Sweater Party on the 21st, promising a night of festive fun and fashion faux pas.
Beyond the regular musical performances, Mill Towne Tavern loves to keep the fun rolling throughout the year, Bruno explains, with “themed parties where the staff and guests dress up”, listing events like 80’s night, Halloween, beach party, country night, Oktoberfest, and New Year’s Eve as crowd favorites.
For those seeking billiards, Mill Towne Tavern doesn’t disappoint. The venue boasts top-of-the-line Diamond pool tables, a rarity in the area. “We’re one of the only places within 30 minutes with pool tables open to the public,” Bruno notes. This unique offering has made the tavern a hub for pool enthusiasts, hosting leagues and tournaments throughout the week.
Individuals who enjoy mental stimulation are invited to participate in trivia on Tuesday nights from 7-9 pm, offering patrons a chance to showcase their knowledge across various topics. The tavern also provides dart boards for those who prefer a different kind of precision game.
Mill Towne Tavern isn’t just about performances and games; it’s also making a name for itself in the local food scene. “We have the best burgers around,” Bruno boasts, and backs up this claim with an unbeatable Monday special — classic burgers for just $5. Wednesday nights bring another crowd-pleaser with $2 tacos, perfect for pairing with the evening’s pool tournament. The menu also features pizza, wings, salads, pasta dishes, and a variety of sandwiches and desserts.
Happy hour runs Monday through Thursday from 4-7 p.m., featuring $5 well drinks and $4 Pabst Blue Ribbon pours, providing an excellent opportunity for after-work relaxation or pre-entertainment refreshment.
With its commitment to quality entertainment, affordable specials, and community-focused atmosphere, Mill Towne Tavern has solidified its place as a versatile venue of Sanford’s nightlife and dining scene that offers something for everyone.
