The Sanford Farmers’ Market’s annual Pre-Thanksgiving Market will be held November 19, 2022, at Central Park from 8:00 am to noon. Two of the vendors, Sarah’s Table and Bella’s Greens, are offering pre-order for holiday items, which can be picked up at the Market. Bella’s Greens has a great selection of holiday pies as well as jars filled with treats that make wonderful hostess gifts. Pre-order here: https://form.jotform.com/222987192485167. Sarah’s Table has wonderful side dishes including a white cheddar cranberry dip, sausage and sourdough stuffing, and au gratin potatoes, plus desserts. Above and Beyond Catering also has a full Thanksgiving menu available to order, which can be picked up on Tuesday or Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. The York County Food Pantry, located at 5 Swett’s Bridge Rd. in Alfred, will be distributing Thanksgiving food boxes (including a turkey) on November 21, 22 and 23 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The pantry is open to all York County residents needing food assistance.
St. Thérèse Food Closet will be distributing Thanksgiving food on November 17 from noon to 2. The Food Closet operates every Thursday out of the St. Ignatius Gym on Riverside Ave.
The Sanford-Springvale VFW is hosting a free dinner on Thanksgiving Day from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, at the post on 1 Hutchinson St. There will be turkey, ham and all the trimmings – desserts too! For more info, call 207-32-1142.
The Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce will be providing 40 turkeys to the Sanford High School Peer Helpers to distribute along with their food boxes to needy families for Thanksgiving. Each turkey will cost approximately $15. If you would like to donate to this project, call the Chamber at (207) 324-4280 or stop by the office. All donations will be recognized with a thank you on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
Don’t feel like serving Thanksgiving Dinner? Pilot’s Cove Café will be open from 4:00 to 7:30 pm for dine in, take out or Door Dash. Want a big breakfast before you face the relatives? Third Alarm Diner will also be open that day.
There will be no trash or recycling pickup on Thanksgiving Day. Thursday trash and recycling will be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s trash and recycling will be picked up on Saturday.
