Would you like to get out into nature, get some fresh air and exercise and meet some great people? Well, here is your opportunity. Join Strengthen your mind and body hiking group. This Facebook group has been hiking for three years. One of its first hikes was at McDougal Orchards on Feb. 24.
The group was started so that no one has to hike alone. They are always looking for new places to hike and someone to lead the hikes. Most hikes occur on Saturdays. They usually start at 10 am. The goal is to try and hike once a week – yes, even in the winter months, sometimes with snowshoes or ice spikes. If it looks like the weather isn’t going to cooperate, the hike is canceled or rescheduled.
Most hikes are around two miles, some with moderate terrain and elevation changes. A few are challenging with varying terrain and more elevation changes. The leader is familiar with the hike and there is always someone at the rear. Both have radios to make sure no one gets left behind. Some hikes allow dogs.
So, what are you waiting for? Sign up and go on the next hike.
