Good Samaritan Stanley Grenier of Springvale credits his wife Brandy Kelly Grenier for making him turn around and go back to a burning car off the road on Long Swamp Road in Lebanon Tuesday night.
“As I slowed down, took a look and saw others there to help. I began to leave, thinking I don’t need to be in the way. She told me to turn around and go back. Something didn’t seem right … There were three vehicles and only two guys,” Grenier explained in a post on the York County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.
Two other passersby at the scene of the crash credit Grenier for pulling a man out of the burning car, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle was still burning, and the driver was safe when first responders arrived. Grenier had left by the time a sheriff’s deputy arrived and no one knew his name until the Sheriff’s Department put out the call on Facebook. Grenier accepted an honorary patch from the department in Alfred.
“Yep, she was right again!!” Grenier continued in his Facebook post. “We are a pretty great team together.”
