Due to the pandemic, there will be no parade this year, or tree lighting ceremony, but rumor has it that Santa and Mrs. Claus are going to sneak into town anyway, and light the Christmas tree when no one is looking. And WSSR-TV may be able to catch them on camera! Keep an eye on their YouTube channel or Channel 25/26!
Ayn Hanselmann is working on a map of homes that are decked out for the holidays, so folks can enjoy a drive through town and know where to find light displays, The map can be found at https://bit.ly/3fwXeyw. Got some great outdoor decorations you want to show off? The form to submit your address is at https://bit.ly/3l8IEhU.
There are other Holly Daze events being planned, too. Follow the new Sanford’s Holly Daze Facebook page to find out more, and share holiday info and ways that we can all share some of the holiday spirit!
Congratulations to Ella Tederous, a student at St. Thomas School. Ella is the Grade 3-5 winner of the Diocese of Portland’s statewide Christmas Card Art Contest. Her winning artwork is pictured above. All Catholic school and faith formation students throughout the diocese were invited to participate in the contest. Over 300 submissions were received, each featuring original creations by the artists reflecting a passage from Scripture. In December, the winners’ creations will appear on the Christmas cards that will be sent to 2020 Catholic Appeal donors.
New Beginnings Christian Church, located at 181 Grammar Road, will be hosting mini craft fairs every Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. A wide range of Christmas items and gifts and on-site personalization options will be available.
