Kennebunk Savings put a bow on 2021 with $27,000 in donations to area food pantries and meal programs. Among the recipients this year were the Sanford Backpack Program, Curtis Lake Church, Sanford Food Pantry, and York County Shelter Programs. The holiday giving complements other donations Kennebunk Savings makes throughout the year to support hunger relief in the area, including an $18,000 grant in support of the Good Shepherd Food Bank’s food mobile for seniors to come to Sanford each month. Kennebunk Savings volunteers also make food deliveries to Sanford schools for children facing food insecurity every week during the school year, as part of their support for the Sanford Backpack Program. Their annual giving for the year totaled over a million dollars in donations and grants. At least 10% of the bank’s annual profits are donated to local nonprofits each year.
Project Graduation 2022 is in its final stretches of fundraising and is working on a fun initiative to support all Sanford High School students with FINALS WEEK SURVIVAL KITS. The kits are filled with ten fun and helpful items for our students that are working extra hard getting ready for finals, including fresh fruit, snacks, Vitamin Water, pencils and Post-It Notes. Maybe more importantly – it will let them know that their community supports their efforts! $10 will sponsor a survival kit for an SHS student. They are looking for 1,050 sponsors. If you’d like to be part of this effort, please Venmo: @shspg (Adam Soule: 8013) or mail a check payable to SHS Project Grad 2022 to 100 Alumni Blvd., Sanford ME 04073.
For every $2.50 Give Back Where It Counts reusable bag purchased at Shaw’s Supermarket this month, $1 will be donated to York County Community Action.
