The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart for their annual Angel Tree Registry, which provides new clothing and toys to more than one million children and families in need each year.
To register your children up to age 12 for the program, fill out an application at the Salvation Army office on Main St. in Sanford. The hours for applying are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. You must have custody of the children in order to register them for the program. The deadline to apply is December 4.
If you would like to purchase gifts to help local families in need, simply pick a tag off the Angel Tree located inside the Sanford Walmart store, or shop online using this link. Once the gifts are received, The Salvation Army will distribute them to the families in time for Christmas morning. Deadline for purchasing clothes/toys is December 8th.
The Salvation Army of Sanford is also looking for businesses or other groups to adopt-a-family. Contact Lt. Jessica Lane at 324-3134 with any questions.
Looking for other ways to help? You can also round up your purchase price at the checkout in Walmart any time through December 31, with the money going to the local Salvation Army.
They are also looking for bell ringers. If you can donate a few hours of your time, contact the Salvation Army at 324-3134.
