October becomes “Rocktober” with Sanford gearing up for a high-octane Halloween celebration as three dynamic bands prepare to touch down at Pilots Cove Cafe (199 Airport Road) on Saturday, October 26. The unique airport-adjacent venue will transform into a rock ‘n’ roll runway for The Outsiders, Defined Perspective, and The Wicked North, promising an evening of punk-fueled festivities.
The all-ages event, kicking off at 5:30 PM, will feature a diverse lineup of musical talent. Local punk rock enthusiasts are in for a treat as The Outsiders take the stage. These “punkabilly rebels” from East Waterboro, known for their explosive blend of punk, rockabilly, and psychobilly, promise a high-energy performance. Drawing inspiration from diverse influences ranging from the Stray Cats to the Misfits, the trio – led by the enigmatic Elvirus and featuring Matt Bartlett on a custom-made upright bass, and Mark Thompson keeping the beat on drums – delivers a raw, stripped-down sound. With a motto of “R.N.R.A.D.Y.” (Rock N Roll Ain’t Dead Yet), attendees can expect a fiery hybrid of punk rock, metal, surf, and hillbilly music.
Joining them on the bill is Defined Perspective, a 5-piece hard rock band from Southern Maine founded in 2019 featuring Geoff Fleming (Vocals/Keyboard), Dustin Stevens (Lead Guitar), Chris King (Rhythm Guitar), Randy Troiano (Bass), and James Harmon (Drums). The local favorite group is making their triumphant return to Pilots Cove Cafe following a successful July performance. The band’s previous appearance at the venue set high expectations for their upcoming Halloween set.
Rounding out the trio of performers is The Wicked North. The ensemble who describe themselves as “four idiots from Maine/New Hampshire who love to rock, watch movies, and drink beer” are eager to make their mark on the Pilots Cove stage.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, attendees are encouraged to don their best Halloween attire for a costume contest. The winner for best costume will receive a prize package including merchandise from the performing bands, $50 in cash, and a mystery bonus prize.
For those seeking additional thrills, a mechanical bull may make an appearance, weather permitting.
Pilots Cove Cafe, known for its unique location on the tarmac of Sanford Airport, provides a one-of-a-kind backdrop for the event. Patrons can enjoy the venue’s diverse menu and full bar service while watching planes take off and land, creating a truly immersive experience.
The organizers have spared no expense in production quality, promising state-of-the-art lighting and high-quality sound to elevate the performances. With its combination of punk rock energy, Halloween spirit, and aviation-themed ambiance, the October 26th show at Pilots Cove Cafe is set to be a highlight of Sanford’s fall entertainment calendar.
Tickets for this not-to-be-missed event are available for $5 in advance (go to www.pilotscovecafe.com and select More > Events) or $10 at the door.
For people looking for a memorable way to kick off the Halloween season, this event promises to deliver thrills, chills, and plenty of punk rock attitude.
