Selfies with Sanford Scarecrows is a fun new initiative by the Friends of Downtown, designed to give Sanford businesses a chance to shine! Sign up by October 15 and put together a scarecrow to display at your location by October 25 to be part of this fun fall event. The contest will market your business and what you do in Sanford, and bring folks by your location. Each participant will be included on the Sanford Scarecrow Map and in their community marketing campaign. You can make a traditional scarecrow, one that is all about your business brand, a scary scarecrow, or a fun themed scarecrow scene.
Community members will be encouraged to visit participating businesses to snap a selfie, tag the business, and tag the photo on social media so that they can be entered into a contest to win prizes. Participating businesses will also be visited by a panel of community judges and the top three scarecrows will be featured in the Sanford Springvale News. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/2ZFE8lX.
But you don’t have to be a business owner to show your competitive Halloween spirit! The Paranormal Five are kicking off spooky season with their second annual Halloween Yard Decorating Contest. This year they are partnering with St. George’s Episcopal Church in Sanford, to raise money for the Church’s Baby Blessings program that helps families in need with baby/toddler necessities. All entry fees of $10 will go towards the Baby Blessings program.
They had such a great turn out last year that this year the contest is expanding to the surrounding towns as well. They are looking for the scariest, most creative, original yards/displays. Judges will be coming out to the homes October 27 and 28. There will be 2-3 winners and the winners will get a Trick or Treat basket filled with goodies! You can enter the contest and pay online from October 1-24 at https://bit.ly/2ZNioVt. This is a great way to celebrate the Halloween season and give back to your community.
If decorating the yard is more than you can handle, Paranormal Five is also sponsoring a pumpkin carving contest. To enter, like their Facebook page, carve a pumpkin and share a photo to the event page. The judges are looking for the scariest, most original and funniest pumpkins. Winners will be announced on Facebook live on October 27 at 8:00 p.m. Winners will get bragging rights and a fun spooky gift bag. Email missylathrop11@gmail.com if you have any questions on either P5 contest.
