Students and staff have been participating in pool testing in the Performing Arts Center during Spartan Time.
Some important events are coming up at SHS! The Maine Band Directors’ Association Marching Band Finals will take place in Alumni Stadium Saturday, October 30; the Fall Sports Awards Presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 3 in the Sanford Performing Arts Center; and the Theater Club will present the romantic comedy “Almost Maine” at the SPAC on Saturday, November 6.
The BE THE CHANGE awards were given out recently. Staff recognize and nominate a student of any kind when they notice that student go above and beyond by affecting change through positive behaviors of any kind. Congratulations!
On their way to recess, CJL’s resilient kindergarteners have been singing a song that reminds them of our safe line up procedures. The song is lead by our NEW Student Support Room Ed Tech, Ms. B., and is just one small example of the daily positive impact she’s having on our school’s climate.
Students are also able to visit Ms. B. in the Student Support Room for a quick reset and return to class or for check in/check out on their behavior/SEL goals.
Ms. B. is creating sensory pathways in each of our pods for motor breaks and is working with third graders who choose to volunteer their recess time for CJL’s Drama Club. We’re looking forward to these students putting on a play for us later this year!
Our MCS Student Clubs are up and running this week during our staff PLC time. Check out some second grade students exploring, designing and building in our brand new Makerspace area with Mrs. Allaire. Mrs. Allaire is gladly accepting donations of various materials if you would like to help build our new work space.
Each day the students and staff have the opportunity to present the morning announcements via Zoom on our Promethean Boards throughout the building. This morning presentation allows students to hear important events, review important expectations, hear the lunch options, share daily SEL quotes and add funny jokes. This month the 4th grade students in Mrs. Carter’s class are leading the way as our student reps. Each Friday the admin team travels throughout the building surprising students as they try to guess the new recording location. This past week celebrity announcers Officer Goldsmith and Mrs. Allaire joined in on the fun as well.
The playgrounds at Sanford Pride Elementary are complete and the students are really enjoying the new set up. Classrooms are discussing the new equipment during the daily morning meetings and students are working together to create standard operating procedures so that everyone can continue to enjoy and remain safe on the awesome new equipment.
SCAE will be participating in Selfie’s with Sanford Scarecrows Give Sanford Businesses a Chance to Shine! Stop by between October 25 and November 5 to see their scarecrow and take a selfie, and don’t forget to upload and tag your photo for your chance to win cool prizes!
