On January 20, Engine 5 responded to an unattended fire in the woods off Emery St. January 24, Engine 1 was called to a grass fire on Blanchard Rd. in Springvale, which occurred near a utility pole where work was being done overhead. A furnace issue on January 26 brought all units to Grove Ave., where the fire was confined. The report notes that the caller originally indicated the location as Grove St. On the 27th, mutual aid was provided to Rochester for a structure fire. One smoke scare/odor of smoke was reported.
All units responded to Hillsdale St. on January 20, the issue was found to be a clothes dryer disconnected from the vent, which filled the room with steam. Engine 4 responded to an accident on Knight St. January 25th, when a plow truck hit a utility pole around 2:00 a.m. During the storm on January 29, a tree on Country Club Rd. #3 fell onto a car. No injuries were reported in either accident. Firefighters responded to two calls for downed power lines. There were nine calls for broken water pipes or snow/rain coming into buildings.
January 27, firefighters helped a homeowner identify a squeaking furnace belt. On the 30th, a person was helped to their car following the storm.
There were 135 calls for EMS services during the period. 35 people received first aid, 60 received basic life support and 55 received advanced life support. 110 people were transported to the hospital. Assistance was given to ten invalids. The Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents with injuries, and eight with no injuries.
Three calls were dispatched and cancelled en route. On two calls, no incident was found on arrival. There were 16 calls for alarms or detectors due to malfunctioning equipment or unintentional activation, plus two calls listed as malicious or mischievous false alarms.
