The Sanford Springvale Historical Society is urging folks to take a break from holiday shopping this year and experience “Jingle and Mingle,” a simpler Victorian-era Christmas at the Goodwin House.
The Goodwin house at 503 Main Street in Springvale, right next to the Historical Museum, will be open for free tours from 10 am to 2 pm December 7, 14 and 21.
The Historical Society was inspired to organize the holiday event because the Victorian era was when modern Christmas traditions such as gift giving and decorating Christmas trees started. Visitors are invited to snap photos of Victorian decorations and historic toys and games while enjoying holiday carols.
After your visit, stop in at the Historical Society’s Museum and make reindeer puppets with Executive Director Patricia Violette-Adams. There will also be readings of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
Admission is free. For more information, please call 207-490-1028
