Covid Cases Spiking in Sanford Now, Too

The Maine Centers for Disease Control is reporting a big jump in Covid-19 cases this week here in Sanford and Springvale. The new cumulative total is 188 cases in Sanford and 57 cases in Springvale, for a total of 245 cases in our community. What is most worrisome is that this represents an increase of 23 cases more than last week, by far the largest one-week increase since the pandemic began. These numbers include data through November 15.

No additional cases related to Sanford schools have been reported since the one case at the Middle School that was diagnosed last weekend. At this time the Middle School is still scheduled to reopen for in-person learning on Monday, November 23.

As of November 18, there are now 357 active cases in York County, and a cumulative total of 1,912 cases. As the graphic above illustrates, the number of cases in Maine is rapidly approaching the 10,000 mark. The dark blue represents recovered cases, and the red represents those who have died with Covid-19.
